Cub Scouting is the fun foundation for boys and girls in K-5 and their whole family!

Starting with Lions in kindergarten, kids get a taste of the basics of Scouting adventure and fun while learning about the Scout Oath and Law for the first time. The skills, hands-on fun, and character connections that girls and boys experience become more challenging as elementary grades progress.

Once a Cub Scout reaches fifth grade, he or she can earn the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest rank. At that point, the Cub Scout can cross over into a Scouts BSA troop and continue his or her adventures there.

About Pack 247

Pack 247 was founded in 1940 to bring character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness to boys in the Kansas City Northland. Since then, our dedication to those aims have prepared Cub Scouts for their trail to Eagle Scout in a Scouts BSA troop.
Pack 247 is sponsored by Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at 9555 N Oak Trafficway Kansas City, MO 64155.

We are part of the North Star District within the Heart of America Council.

Activities

Cub Scouts participate in a huge array of activities, including games, projects, skits, stunts, songs, outdoor activities, trips, and service projects. Besides being fun, these activities offer opportunities for growth, achievement, and family involvement.

In den meetings and pack meetings, Cub Scouts make new friends, play purposeful games, and learn new things. Dens usually meet two times a month. All the dens in the pack come together once a month for a pack meeting.

Cub Scout families have opportunities to go camping and to participate in outdoor adventures. Lessons learned in the outdoors help to develop a life-long respect for the environment.

Family Involvement

Whether a Cub Scout lives with two parents or one, a foster family, or other relatives, their family is an important part of Cub Scouting. Parents and adult family members provide leadership, support for Cub Scouting, and help ensure that Scouts have a valuable experience in the program.

We hope you’ll consider being part of the Pack 247 family!
