Venturing in Kansas City: Lead your Adventure
We are proud to be the only Kansas City Venturing Crew that directly services youth in Clay and Platte Counties. If you’ve been looking for a Venturing Crew in the area, then we have the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
Venturing is for males and females aged 14-20 (or thirteen and completed the eighth grade). It differs slightly from the Scouts BSA program, mostly in the way crews conduct activities. Venturers decide their own program and don’t rely on predefined requirements in the same way Scouts do.
Venturing is youth-led and youth-inspired. You’ll acquire life skills and gain experiences that will prove to be valuable regardless of where your future takes you:
- – the list goes on!
Most importantly, you’ll have a blast!
Venturers meet lots of new friends because Kansas City Venturing youth leaders participate in the Venturing Officers’ Association (VOA). The VOA plans fun events and service projects for all Kansas City metro Venturers to participate.
About Kansas City Venturing Crew 2247

Who makes a good Venturer?
A common question that we get about joining Venturing is, “Do I already need to have been a Scout?”
While it is true that many older Scouts from Scouts BSA troops consider Venturing to find new adventures past the rank of Eagle, prior Cub Scout or Scouts BSA experience is not necessary. For instance:
- Girl Scouts working on their Silver Award or above find Venturing to be an exciting supplement to their existing fun.
- Youth that may have enjoyed Scouting activities but not rank requirements, for instance, tend to like Venturing much more.
- In addition, youth programs of all sorts make great companions to Venturing: speech/debate, student council, 4-H, sports, theater, music… you name it!
Any boy or girl 14-20 with passion and a desire to grow as a young adult makes a great Venturer.
